So...after 30 hours of travel, I landed on America soil. It involved 1 bus ride, and 2 plane rides (1 being delayed). Fifty (my giant gorilla) got me upgraded to a window seat, and it was unexpected!!
Once I landed, I was greeted with shouts, hugs, and balloons from Leo, Shannon, and Mel. I didn't even get past yellow line of entrance before they jumped on me! I hugged Leo so hard his glasses broke! It was SUCH a great welcome...and then they took me to TACO BELL!!!
Once I showered and got some laundry done, Drew and Crystal joined us at a Washington Nationals Baseball game. Oh, HELLO AMERICA! They sang America the Beautiful, I had American beer again, and chili fries, and watched the presidents race. I just took it all in.....it's nice to be back.
Things that are weird to me so far...
- Shower Curtains
- Everyone looks so clean cut (not like hippies)
- I can understand ALL the conversations around me (no thai, french, flemish, etc)
- Air Con in EVERY building (I am cold everywhere I go, even though it's summer)
- Sitting in the passenger side of a car...ON THE RIGHT SIDE!
- Radio's with commercials
- TV with ALL english channels!!
Today I'm off to get cupcakes, and Potbelly sandwiches, and a MEAN steak for dinner. Then I'll probably be down for the count.
